Get Power of Attorney is run by a freelance solicitor specialising in preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney for the general public. Terrie Pridie, a female solicitor, has been practising as a solicitor for nearly 30 years.
More and more people now realise the importance of having all their affairs in order, for complete peace of mind. People of all ages are recommended to have a Lasting Power of Attorney in place. Our goal is to provide both a superior customer experience with value for money for our customers. Please read testimonies on the website. There are two types of Lasting Powers, one for your finances and one for your health and welfare. It is equally important to have both Lasting Powers. Remember that if you do lose mental capacity, you can no longer sign a contract to sell your home, and you cannot give or withhold consent to your medical treatment. You can find out more by visiting our website here
We charge £180 per Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA), or £350.00 if you have both done together.
This is a very competitive price, and is the Lowest Price in the North East of England. Unlike Law Firms No VAT is payable on any of the charges or fees. Our charges include a home visit (within North Tyneside *) to take instructions and then to obtain signatures. You can relax in the comfort of your own home knowing that a professional is engaged.
Get Power of Attorney is able to act as a Certificate Provider at no additional cost (GP’s usually charge a fee), so in most cases, you have everyone you need in your family, to make the application.
If you are eligible for a discount on the registration fee we will also apply for the reduction or exemption of fees where appropriate.
Each LPA will need to be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian to make it valid. There is a registration fee of £92 per LPA unless you are either entitled to a reduction in the fee (£46.00 per LPA) if your annual income is less than £12,000 before tax, or an exemption, where you pay no fee at all, if you are in receipt of one of the benefits listed below:
-
Income Support
-
Income-based Employment and Support Allowance
-
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
-
Guaranteed Pension Credit
-

Please note that the following are not included: Disability Living Allowance, Invalidity Benefit and Personal Independence Payment. Supporting evidence and completion of form LPA120 is required for a reduction or exemption of the fees.

Certified copies are £20 each (no vat). These are highly recommended, as otherwise you will need to send or leave the original somewhere, and it may go missing. The Office of the Public Guardian ("OPG") charge £35 per office copy, should you require one, and it can take them many months to provide them.
There is also a small charge to use the post office Special Delivery service, to send your signed documents to the OPG and to return them to you once the LPAs are registered.
